NEW GCSE ARABIC

New GCSE Arabic Lessons.

Some reasons to learn Arabic

Arabic is the fourth/fifth most spoken language in the world. There are many countries that speak Arabic as a first language. One of the first things that a person does when he or she becomes a Muslim is to learn some basic Arabic words and chapters of the Quran. Arabic is also the language of many Christians in the Middle East who are very proud of their language.

Why would anyone learn Arabic?

  1. It is a scientific language.
  2. It is a spiritual language.
  3. It is one of the top languages to learn in political and economic circles.
  4. Its letters are clear, unlike many other languages where various letters can have different sounds and pronunciations.
  5. It is a language whose learners increase every time someone becomes Muslim…and we all know how many people are becoming Muslims, despite the negative media stereotypes and shocking stories.
  6. It is a language not just of Arabs or for Arabs, as the Arabic language has been made international…it is now open for anyone to learn.
  7. There are obviously many jobs a person can get if they can speak Arabic such as within Journalism, travel companies, NGO’s, charitable organisations and aid agencies, translation and interpretation, teaching, spy agencies and secret services, financial institutes working and meeting with those rich Arabs etc etc etc.
  8. For social reasons…maybe you have a Muslim friend or know someone who is Arab or speaks Arabic.
  9. It is a language that has been around for some 2000 years. It has classical, modern and colloquial versions of it.
  10. And last but not least it is the language of one of the most popular and widely read books ever. The language of a book that is controversial but attracts so many people of all backgrounds and cultures. It is the language of the Holy Quran.

Al Arabiya Bayna Yadayk | Review

Al Arabiya Bayna Yadayk

Al Arabiya Bayna Yadayk is an Arabic book geared towards learning Quranic or classical Arabic but it is also useful for modern standard Arabic.

This book comes in 3 volumes but newer editions split each volume into two, which make them easier to handle. There is so much vocabulary within these books you may need several dictionaries to find the meanings of all these words. There is no use of English in these books.

The book covers are nice and colourful and make these books an attractive set of Arabic books to have on your shelf. The books also come with CDs which are very handy as there are numerous exercises within the pages of these books.

What is also useful for Muslim learners is the fact that there are Quranic verses as well as hadeeths used throughout the books. The books are not cheap but are a good investment if you take Arabic seriously. These books although marketed to a Muslim audience are useful for those non-Muslims who don’t mind a little a little Quran or are used to it.

The books are meant to take you from scratch and there is much repetition in the 1st volume to reinforce the concepts and terminology. Al Arabiya Bayna Yadayk is also available in pdf form on various sites but can not be relied upon for years to come as these books, like others, will have newer editions to either correct any mistakes in current books or change things within the book.

Al Arabeya Bayna Yadayk

Al Arabiya Bayna Yadayk Al Arabiya Bayna Yadayk Al Arabiya Bayna Yadayk

Purchase this book either online or in any good Muslim bookshop. The full set will cost you around £140.00. Each volume bought separately will retail for around £40.00 new. There are also cheaper, used, copies available online.

Secure Garden Tips | Home and Gardening | Tidy Gardener

Secure Garden Tips

If you have ever thought you could do with some extra security in your front or back garden, then here you will find some useful tips on how to give your garden a little extra help. When it comes to securing your home from unwanted visitors, we should be mindful but not paranoid. The following tips are not meant to make you move home or start major renovations on your home but more ‘a how to work with what you have’. These secure garden tips are just some of the things you could do but there are also others.

It might not have happened to you yet but that should not lead you to believe that your garden is immune from prowlers. Perhaps you have done a good job of your garden already or maybe you have one of those gardens that no one can get in or out of. In which case this may not apply to you but perhaps it might help someone you know. So let’s get to it.

1. If you have a shed that could be broken into then secure what you can by chaining up your lawnmowers, tool boxes and ladders. A 1-metre chain with a good padlock could slow down that burglar long enough to get them spooked and have them fleeing. So if you do keep items like lawnmowers or ladders do padlock them up wherever they happen to be in the garden. A ladder could also be used to gain entry.

2. Burglars do not like to be seen or be seen acting suspiciously. Whenever you look into your garden you should have a good view of it and anyone who could be in it. With that in mind, a must have security feature would be lighting. Lighting that senses movement and lighting that you can turn off and on from inside the house without going outside, just in case.

3. On the back of tip 2, and some of you are not going to like this but we can’t please everyone. Hedges and bushes. Now I know everyone likes a bit of privacy but think about it…so do burglars. OK, you’re probably asking yourselves “why should I not have hedges or bushes at the front or back of my house just because some burglar could be hiding in or behind it”? Well, that is for you to think about. This is not about chopping all the hedges down, it is rather about being aware of this point and doing what you can to reduce the risks.

4. You might not know it but even the shape of your house and size of your garden can play a roll in your home and garden security. Obviously, the bigger the garden the more secure your fencing should be, all the way around. If your house is square or block shaped it is a better security feature than a house that has walls that go in and out all the way around, where someone could potentially hide around or behind.

5. The last tip would be to remember that home security is the responsibility of everyone living at your home. It makes little sense that only one person remembers to close the back door or lock the garage when others are not as mindful. Talk to your family and let them know that the more the weak links in your home the more you need to think about other levels of home security. If not you will think about it when it is too late and your home space has been violated by an intruder.

This is not just a matter of whether they are able to take the tv or not, most burglars probably have more than enough TVs, this is potentially a personal safety and life-saving procedure.

If you would like a synopsis done on your home by someone with an eye for home security. Then feel free to use the contact details on this page in order for us to get someone out to you.

Call out fees:

  • External, back and front, security review £30.00.
  • External and internal downstairs security review £35.00
  • Payments are made via bank transfer, not in cash, and is subject to location.

Anti Extremism Visiting Speaker

Anti Extremism Visiting Speaker

Anti Extremism Visiting Speaker

When we are not offering language tuition, or supporting schools with language speaking exams, we also speak on issues of concern at school and centres.

We aim to help tackle topics that young people may encounter within the school, at home or on the streets of the UK.

The topics we cover include but are not limited to:

Transnational extremism and radical influences (Whether so-called Islamist, right-wing or other).

Knife crime and dangerous weapons.

Racism, bullying and the behaviour of hatred.

Drugs and substance abuse.

These are just some of the things that your school or centre may wish a speaker to address. you are free to contact us with regard to any other topic you may want us to look at. We offer fluent English speakers who are passionate about the issues mentioned above, not only because they are parents and teachers themselves but because they also understand the background of children that are experiencing life-altering circumstances.

The speaker is aware of the sensitive nature of some of these topics and is willing to sit with teachers to cover such areas prior to any speaking engagement, whether on the day or prior.

It is an education in itself which students can benefit from on many levels. Many children are unable to perform well in school due to a lack of certain types of individuals or an understanding which they can identify with. Children tick and click on concepts and issues via multiple dimensions of understanding not just notions of legal or governmental do’s and don’ts.

Our speaking events are catered to groups of 5 or more children but specific numbers and fees can be discussed separately.

Feel free to call and speak to us or email us using the details on the contact page.

The Speaker is aware of the Visiting Speaker Guidelines

Top Arabic Girls Names

Here is a list of some of the worlds most popular Girls names in Arabic. These are not in any particular order of favour.

ARABIC GIRLS NAMES

1. Khadejah

2. Zaynab

3. Haleema

4. Fatima

5. Hanaan

6. Huda

7. Jasmin

8. Layla

9. Nadia

10. Rihana

There are many more names that you can find in books or other searches but this is just a quick round-up of some of the more popular ones. Some of the names mentioned above although popular in some countries are still rare in others. Having an Arabic sounding name obviously does not make you Arab or Muslim the same way that having a ‘Christian name’ does not make you Christian.

The topic of names is an interesting conversation as many people think that if you’re named after someone well known then it is as if your expected to follow in that person’s footsteps and example. For others, it is a nice reminder of someone who they might admire. Some people prefer not to name their children after anyone at all and create unique names for their children, most of these names, fortunately, or unfortunately do not have any meaning. One person had just a symbol for their name, other people may just have one name without a family name. People may even change their name from what it was at birth to something totally different.

Whatever the reason or rhyme behind why people are called what they are mocking a person because of their name is not the done thing. Whether a person has a name that you like or not that is for them to live with more than it is the business of anyone else. As for whether western names are better than other names of other cultures you will not get a definitive answer either way as different cultures like what they like for their own reasons different to another person’s reasons.
